Latoya Edwards, M.D., is a family medicine practitioner and the office medical director of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians in North Bethesda for adult and pediatric patients. Dr. Edwards is affiliated with Suburban Hospital. Dr. Edwards has a special interest in community health, women's health and adolescent medicine. Dr. Edwards earned her medical degree from the State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center. She completed a residency in family practice at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital Center, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Edwards has served as a preceptor for Johns Hopkins University nurse practitioner students, as well as Greater Baltimore Medical Center internal medicine residents and University of Maryland Medical Students. Before joining Johns Hopkins Medicine, Dr. Edwards was a primary care physician at Kaiser Permanente's internal medicine department.Dr. Edwards was a principal investigator for intimate partner violence research and intervention, where she developed physician screening and intervention techniques for detecting domestic violence. She also conducted research on Metformin and has published book pages on ambulatory medicine and inpatient medicine.
